Have you ever given a thought to “Family Fitness?” Does it not sound inspiring that each member of the family could be a Fitness Enthusiastic?
The phrase family that “eats together and stays together” has subtly become into a family that “lives, eats and stays fit together.” In a family we have got individuals of varying moods and tastes, and when arises the question of family fitness usually we all do not seem to be on the identical page. Sometimes due to our tiring schedule and different time table, we even miss spending together our basic family time. Every person now a days is rushing and running a life’s marathon, we barely get time to spend with. This is a familiar scenario in all of our families. We all are craving to employ quality time together.
But the question over here is, “Is it really that grim to manage your family timings for family fitness?” No matter how busy our family is we need to keep our health a priority and as a focal point. In my personal experience, I believe it is not impossible to set a well-organized time table for your family.
It can be tough and unyielding initially but if fitness and discipline are in your mind nothing can beat you. A question here for you, “How do you balance family health goals and your hectic schedule?”
Encourage your kids to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily. Teaching the importance of physical activity while your kids are young will help them maintain the habit when they're older. Remember to lead by example by also engaging in regular physical activity.
I would like to share a few tips with you about maintaining “Family Fitness.”
1) MAKE A STRATEGIC GOAL: An aimless life has nothing to offer you. The first and foremost important aspect here is to set your family fitness goal. Every member of the family should have a definite goal for their physical and mental fitness. Eating healthy, avoiding junk food and regular fitness regime should be the top priority of your family fitness goals. Adding nuts, plenty of fruits and a rainbow of vegetables helps to uphold cravings and you can accomplish your fitness goals.
2) TALK TO A NUTRITIONIST: The next essential step here along with setting goals is to talk to your nutritionist. A family can have adults, children or youngsters, so the nutrition requirement of everyone is different. So, talk to your nutritionist first and make a proper diet chart for everyone. At the same time, make a proper note of the daily schedule of all family members. Make it a habit to keep healthy, appetizing food at your table.
(Note: The substantial thing to keep in mind here is to stay healthy also, so never compromise with your healthy diet).
3) FITNESS REGIME: The fitness means the overall fitness of a person. A lot of aspects that come under the fitness of a person. Let us highlight each one of them one by one:
· Mental Fitness: The first crucial thing is to maintain mental fitness for your family. As kids are vulnerable to mental illness, provide and guide them with necessary counselling. You need to teach them,” How to keep peer-pressure at a bay?” There are a couple of things that you as an adult need to talk with your kids. The mental fitness applies to adults of your family also, usually, our elders sometimes feel neglected due to our busy schedule or other various factors. We need to talk with them as well and ensure them we are there to take care of them.
Physical Fitness: There is a wide scope of things to do here. When it comes to the question of physical fitness that can be achieved by various means. A few I have mentioned below:
YOGA & MEDITATION: One of the best fitness regimes for everyone and especially for our adults is yoga. In the early morning, set up a family routine and let all family members to do yoga together. It will be helpful not only for your physical health but you will spend quality family time also. Thus, it, in turn, also helps to strengthen the family relationship. The meditation has all the power to heal your mental sickness. A family doing the meditation sessions together will keep mental sickness away as it oozes a lot of positivity around your home.
WALK: This is another easy to do fitness regime. You do not need to spend any hefty money here. It can be a morning walk or evening walk with your family that helps you in greater family bonding also. It also helps to grasp fresh oxygen from the surrounding environment. If you feel it’s difficult to go out then do family indoor walks. Which are really helpful during pandemic when we are restricted to go out.
EXERCISE AT HOME: There are a couple of exercises that you can do at home also with your family. It is not only good for your family bonding but on top keeps everyone motivated and energetic to follow the routine. The biggest benefit here is you do not need to go out of home, just simply you have to follow the daily physical activity.
EXERCISE AT GYM: You can definitely go with this mode of physical fitness also. We have usually observed that we feel lazy to go to the gym after a few days of joining. Well, if you have some gym partner then definitely it will stimulate you to go to the gym. The most gyms now a day have family fitness plans so you should avail all those opportunities for your family. It will be not only cost-effective for you but will also motivate each other to follow the gym routine.
GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP: Above all the things we discussed, the foremost important one is to get a proper and healthy sleep. Make sure your family especially the adults and kids are getting a good shut-eye and a sound sleep. Sleep deprivation can affect your family fitness goals badly and usually ends up in sleep tiredness and overeating.
Some activities which you can do
Sign your child up for local sports camp, dance or swimming lessons.
Go for family hiking and explore the environment.
Take up a new hobby together, such as inline skating, tennis or hiking.
Run through the sprinkler when it's hot outside.
When it's raining, stay inside, turn on some music and have a dance party.
Set up neighborhood contests like jump rope, hula hoop or hopscotch.
Organize community/society kickball, games or relay races.
Host a bicycle race.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator whenever possible.
Walk in place while watching TV.
Plan an active family vacation or a weekend outing.
Watch and follow an exercise video.
So, make sure your family is sleeping, eating and following a fitness regime appropriately.

A disciplined life is always a blessing so maintaining a strict time table and physical regime is helpful to your family in all ways.
